Registration Requirements
You are eligible to vote in Washington state if you meet these three qualifications:
- you are a citizen of the United States and
- you are a legal resident of Washington State and
- and you are at least 18 years old on election day
Ways to Register
Online
You may register online using the official
State Online Voter Registration System. To register to vote using this online program, you must have either a valid Washington State:
- driver's license; or
- state identification (ID) card.
By Mail
You can download a printable registration form at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/elections/register.aspx
Follow the instructions on the form and mail in to

Your registration form must be postmarked at least 30 calendar days before the upcoming election.
In Person at your county elections department
You can register in person at your county elections department until 15 days before an election.
You must register at the county in which you reside.
Have you voted in the past?
If you have ever registered to vote in Washington State but haven't voted recently,
your voter registration may still be active. You can check your voter status at
MyVote
You can also update your address using MyVote if you have moved to a
new residence within the same county. If you have moved to a different county, go to
http://www.secstate.wa.gov/elections/register.aspx
for instructions.
